Gainers & Losers: Stocks that moved the most on July 24
The broader markets, mainly midcap and smallcap indices, regained momentum after underperforming the headline indices last week. The two closed 0.8 and 1.9 percent higher, respectively.
Nifty and Sensex ended the July 24 session on a weak footing, closing in the negative territory for the fourth trading session in a row as bank and FMCG stocks slipped following the Union Budget, which was tabled on July 23. Sensex closed 280 points or 0.4 percent lower at 80,148 and the Nifty 50 was down 65 points or 0.3 percent at 24,413. About 2,481 shares advanced, 926 shares declined, and 82 shares remained unchanged.
