Panic gripped residents of Sunworld Vanalika society in Noida’s Sector 107 on Tuesday afternoon after a fire broke out in a high-rise tower, destroying property worth several lakhs of rupees. Fortunately, no casualties or injuries were reported.
The incident occurred around 2:45 pm in flat number 201 of tower 11. According to residents, smoke and flames were first spotted billowing out of the windows, following which the society’s maintenance staff and the fire department were immediately alerted.
Chief Fire Officer (CFO) Pradeep Kumar Choubey said the initial distress call suggested that the blaze had spread to four or five flats, prompting authorities to send as many as six fire tenders to the site. “Initially, we were informed that fire broke out in 4-5 flats. When we reached here, we found that a fire had broken out in just one flat. The fire has been brought under control. The fire started from the balcony, and there was a blast in the AC as well. The entire flat has been gutted, but fortunately, no casualties took place,” he clarified.

By the time fire officials arrived, the society’s own maintenance staff had already begun preliminary firefighting efforts. Firefighters then took over, deploying two engines to spray water from the ground in order to contain the blaze and prevent it from spreading vertically to other floors. Using hydraulic ladders, officials also gained access to the flat from the outside and battled the flames directly.

The fire was brought under control within 30 minutes and completely doused shortly thereafter. Authorities have identified a suspected short circuit as the preliminary cause of the blaze. The flat owner has begun assessing the damage to both property and personal belongings, with losses expected to run into lakhs of rupees, media reports have said.
