The video of Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni rolling her eyes, after French President Emmanuel Macron whispered something to her during a private exchange at the G7 roundtable, has gone viral.

As the 51st G7 summit kicked off in Canada, leaders from the world's most powerful economies gathered to deliberate on pressing global issues. Meloni and Macron were seated side by side. As Macron leaned in to whisper something into Meloni’s ear—while shielding his mouth—the Italian PM responded with a theatrical eye roll and a swift lean back.

It is unclear what was said as neither leader commented on the exchange.

Meloni previously has been caught on camera dramatically rolling her eyes, including in 2024, when then-President Joe Biden and NATO Secretary-General Jens Stoltenberg were running late for a NATO meeting. The Italian PM was spotted checking an imaginary watch on her wrist before rolling her eyes to other world leaders, the New York Post reported.

The video clip sparking endless commentary, jokes, and speculation on social media. Many users couldn’t get enough of what’s now being called the “eye roll of the century".

“Georgia Meloni ROLLS HER EYES at France’s President Emmanuel Macron. The G7 is off to such a good start. Meloni is awesome, she can’t hide her distain for the globalist elite," one user posted on X.

“Meloni with the eye roll of the century. She’s torn Macron apart in previous speeches so this isn’t a shock," another X user said.

At the summit, leaders signed a joint statement on Monday night declaring that Iran “can never have a nuclear weapon.” The communique also urged for a “broader de-escalation of hostilities in the Middle East, including a ceasefire in Gaza.”

However,  US President Donald Trump abruptly left the venue before its conclusion, claiming “important work” awaited him.
