Prime Minister Narendra Modi is scheduled to embark on a two-day visit starting February 27, covering Kerala, Tamil Nadu, and Maharashtra, according to a statement released by the Prime Minister's Office (PMO). During this visit, he will inaugurate and lay the foundation stone for several developmental projects. The journey will commence in Kerala and conclude in Maharashtra on February 28.
PM Modi's Kerala itinerary
On February 27, around 10:45 am, the Prime Minister will visit the Vikram Sarabhai Space Centre (VSSC) in Kerala's Thiruvananthapuram, the PMO has mentioned.
PM Modi will inaugurate three crucial space infrastructure projects at the VSSC. These projects, with a cumulative cost of about Rs 1800 crore, include the PSLV Integration Facility (PIF) at the Satish Dhawan Space Centre, Sriharikota; the new 'Semi-cryogenics Integrated Engine and stage Test facility' at ISRO Propulsion Complex at Mahendragiri; and the 'Trisonic Wind Tunnel' at VSSC, as per the PMO statement.
The Prime Minister will also review the progress of the Gaganyaan Mission and confer 'astronaut wings' to the astronaut-designates during his visit. The Gaganyaan Mission is India’s first human space flight program, and preparations are underway at various ISRO centers.
PM Modi's Tamil Nadu itinerary
Following this, at approximately 5:15 pm, he will participate in the program titled 'Creating the Future – Digital Mobility for Automotive MSME Entrepreneurs' in Tamil Nadu's Madurai.
In Madurai, PM Modi will participate in the program 'Creating the Future – Digital Mobility for Automotive MSME Entrepreneurs,' addressing thousands of Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) entrepreneurs in the automotive sector, the PMO has noted. He will also launch initiatives like the TVS Open Mobility Platform and the TVS Mobility-CII Centre of Excellence, supporting the growth of MSMEs and aligning with the vision of making them self-reliant.
On February 28, at about 9:45 am, the Prime Minister will inaugurate and lay the foundation stone for multiple development projects totaling around Rs 17,300 crore in Thoothukudi. He will lay the foundation stone for the Outer Harbor Container Terminal at VO Chidambaranar Port.
PM Modi will also launch India's first indigenous green hydrogen fuel cell inland waterway vessel under the Harit Nauka initiative, emphasising clean energy solutions. Additionally, he will dedicate tourist facilities in 75 lighthouses across 10 states/UTs during the program.
During the program, the Prime Minister will officially inaugurate railway projects aimed at doubling the Vanchi Maniyachchi - Nagercoil rail line, which includes the Vanchi Maniyachchi - Tirunelveli section and the Melappalayam - Aralvaymoli section.
Additionally, PM Modi will dedicate four road projects in Tamil Nadu, with a combined investment of around Rs 4,586 Crore. These projects encompass the four-laning of the Jittandahalli-Dharmapuri section of NH-844, the two-laning with paved shoulders of the Meensurutti-Chidambaram section of NH-81, the four-laning of the Oddanchatram-Madathukulam section of NH-83, and the two-laning with paved shoulders of the Nagapattinam-Thanjavur section of NH-83.
PM Modi's Maharashtra itinerary
The Prime Minister will disburse Rs 825 crore of Revolving Fund to 5.5 lakh women Self Help Groups (SHGs) across Maharashtra, initiate the distribution of one crore Ayushman cards, and launch the Modi Awaas Gharkul Yojana for OBC category beneficiaries.
PM Modi will also distribute the second and third installments of the 'Namo Shetkari MahaSanman Nidhi,' totaling around Rs 38,00 crore, benefiting approximately 88 lakh beneficiary farmers in Maharashtra. This scheme provides an extra Rs 6,000 per year to beneficiaries of the Pradhan Mantri Kisan Samman Nidhi Yojana in Maharashtra.
The Prime Minister will also inaugurate multiple irrigation projects and rail projects in Maharashtra, including the Wardha-Kalamb broad gauge line and the New Ashti - Amalner broad gauge line.
Additionally, the Prime Minister will dedicate several road sector strengthening projects in Maharashtra, such as the four-laning of the Warora-Wani section of NH-930 and road upgradation projects for crucial routes connecting Sakoli-Bhandara and Salaikhurd-Tirora. Lastly, the Prime Minister will inaugurate the statue of Pandit Deendayal Upadhyay in Yavatmal city.
