The National Investigation Agency (NIA) was on Wednesday granted 11-day custody of gangster Anmol Bishnoi after he was produced before the Patiala House Court. He arrived in India from US after his extradition earlier today.
Upon his arrival in India earlier today, the National Investigation Agency (NIA) arrested Bishnoi, after his deportation from the US to India. He will be taken to the NIA headquarters for questioning, ahead of which, security has been tightened in the area.
"Operating closely with various Bishnoi gang associates, Anmol continued to run terror syndicates and execute terrorist acts from the US for the Lawrence Bishnoi gang, using its operatives on the ground. Investigations revealed that Anmol Bishnoi had provided shelter and logistic support to the gang’s shooters and ground operatives. He was also engaged in extortion in India from foreign soil with the help of other gangsters," NIA release after Bishnoi's arrest said.
Ahead of his arrival at Delhi's Indira Gandhi International Airport, police personnel and the Dog Squad conducted checks of vehicles and premises at IGI Terminal 3.
Ramesh Bishnoi, cousin of Anmol Bishnoi, spoke to news agency Press Trust of India and said, "The family is worried about his security. On behalf of the family, I request the Honourable PM and Honourable Home Minister to ensure Anmol's security. The way gang war is happening, we are apprehensive... Our family, society have always respected the law. Whether he is a culprit... it is part of the inquiry. His biggest crime is that he is the younger brother of Lawrence... he was never in the world of crime."
Anmol was the mastermind behind NCP leader Baba Siddique's murder in Mumbai. He is also a wanted criminal in several high-profile cases in the country.
The US’ Department of Homeland Security in an email to Siddique’s son, Zeeshan Siddiqui, confirmed the deportation. "This email is to inform you ANMOL BISHNOI has been removed from the United States by the federal government. The offender was removed on November 18, 2025," the mail read, according to a report by NDTV.
Anmol Bishnoi is wanted in India for a series of violent crimes, including the killing of Siddique in October 2024 and the murder of Punjabi singer Sidhu Moosewala in May 2022. He is also accused in the case of gunshots fired outside actor Salman Khan’s Mumbai residence in April 2024.
With 18 cases registered against him, Bishnoi was placed on the National Investigation Agency’s most-wanted list last year, and the agency has announced a ₹10 lakh reward for information leading to his arrest.
He was detained by US authorities in November last year, though not for offences linked to his alleged activities in India. According to sources, he was held for illegally entering the United States.
Anmol is the younger brother of jailed gangster Lawrence Bishnoi, who is believed to run a global criminal network from behind bars.
