A woman who was declared dead by the police after she went missing, was found to have started a family with the man she had eloped with 18 months ago. The bizarre incident came to light after the “victim’s” brother found out that she is alive and even has a baby now.

The incident took place in Malapur village of Uttar Pradesh’s Amroha district. The woman’s brother had approached the police after she had gone missing in February 2019, reported News18.

After carrying out the investigation, the Adampur Police had arrested three persons, including the woman’s father and brother, and charged them with murder. They had even recovered the missing woman’s clothes and the “murder weapon” – a gun.

However, the recent revelation has raised serious doubts about the probe that was carried out by the police and how they recovered a murder weapon when no one was murdered in the first place.

The woman’s family is now seeking justice for the father and the brother who continue to languish in jail. They have sought strict action against the policemen who carried out the investigation for falsely framing their family members. The three persons implicated in the case were allegedly assaulted and forced to confess to a crime they never committed.
