While speaking about the ruckus that unfolded in the West Bengal Assembly on Thursday, BJP national spokesperson Gaurav Bhatia hit out at West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee and said that it would not be incorrect to call today a black day.
"It is a matter of concern and indecent. If this is called a 'black day', it won't be incorrect. Mamata Banerjee is no longer worthy of continuing as the CM of West Bengal. She should resign immediately; people will definitely teach her a lesson," he said.
Mamata Banerjee on Thursday accused the Bharatiya Janata Party of having a dictatorial attitude. Mamata's remarks attracted applause from the leaders of the ruling Trinamool Congress in the state.
"The BJP has a colonial mindset. They want to turn Bengal into their colony and run it by remote control from Delhi," Banerjee said during a discussion in the West Bengal Assembly, Hindustan Times reported.
The Assembly witnessed a high voltage drama during a discussion on the Mamata Banerjee government’s resolution on alleged atrocities against Bengali migrants.
As Banerjee got up to address the assembly, BJP legislators staged a protest and chanted slogans, questioning the suspension of Leader of Opposition in Bengal Assembly Suvendu Adhikari on September 2.
Amid rising tensions in the Assembly, BJP chief whip Shankar Ghosh was suspended by Speaker Biman Banerjee for the rest of the day for creating disorder. As Ghosh refused to leave, the speaker called in marshals to evict Ghosh and then he was dragged out of the House.
