US Vice President JD Vance, who is currently in India on a four-day visit to the country, on Tuesday showered rich praise on Prime Minister Narendra Modi and said his family and he were touched by his graciousness.

Vance is on his first official visit to India as V-P and is joined by his wife Usha and three children – Ewan, Vivek, and Mirabel. On Monday evening, Prime Minister Narendra Modi hosted the visiting second family of the United States at his 7, Lok Kalyan Marg residence for a dinner.

Speaking of his visit to the PM's residence, Vance said that he was touched by the Prime Minister's warmth towards him and his children, whom he gave an 'A-' in behavior with the host.

"After our wonderful visit to Prime Minister Narendra Modi's residence, my 7-year-old son said, 'You know, I could live here in India'," Vance said.

"However, after an hour in Jaipur's heat, he said, 'You know, may be we should settle in England.' That's how kids are," Vance said in a lighter vein.

Vance's children have been the centre of attention since he began his India visit. Be it their demeanour or their traditional Indian attire, the children have stolen the spotlight over the past two days.

During his address in Jaipur, Vance said that children are brutally honest, regardless of whether or not one would want them to be. "And there are only two leaders in the world with whom I have seen my children get close. The first is President Trump -- there is something about his energy. And the second is Prime Minister Modi. I saw my children have the same connection with Prime Minister Modi," Vance said.

The US Vice President and his family arrived in Delhi on Monday during which he also held a meeting over a potential India-US trade deal with the Prime Minister. He landed at the capital’s Palam airbase with his Indian-origin wife Usha and three children where he was received by Union Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw.

Vance’s first official visit to India comes weeks after US President Donald Trump imposed and then paused a sweeping tariff regime against around 60 countries, including India.

The US Vice President and his family are scheduled to depart from India to the US on Thursday, April 24. They are scheduled to visit Agra and see the ionic Taj Mahal on Wednesday.
