Prime Minister Narendra Modi on February 21 said India needs to take inspiration from the country’s freedom movement to create new leadership in every field to achieve the target of becoming a Viksit Bharat.
“The freedom movement had created a strong new leadership in every sector, not just in politics. We need to take inspiration from that and create new leadership,” the PM said during SOUL Leadership Conclave being held in Bharat Mandapam in New Delhi.
We need new leadership in emerging fields such as renewable energy and technology, Modi added.
"Today India is emerging as a global power. To accelerate this pace in all fields, we need world-class leaders...Today, India needs dynamic leaders in all fields who can find solutions to global complexities and keep national interest at the forefront while solving problems."
PM Modi announced that “very soon” a campus of the School of Ultimate Leadership (SOUL) will be ready near the GIFT City in Gujarat. “I was shown the plan of the campus and I think it will also take leadership in terms of its architecture,” he said.
To buttress his point, PM Modi claimed that during the formation of Gujarat, many claimed that the state doesn't have any natural resources and it won't be able to survive. However, it proved everyone wrong and Gujarat has everything today, Modi said.
Further, the prime minister said the country needs to align policies with world-class standards. "We have to make our governance and policy-making world-class. This will be possible only when our policymakers, bureaucrats, entrepreneurs will make their policies by connecting with the global base system... If we have to make 'Viksit Bharat', then we will have to move ahead in all areas... We will not only have to aspire for excellence but also achieve it."
