The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) tore into the Congress party over its latest attempt to "insult" Prime Minister Narendra Modi and his mother just days after a raging controversy over alleged abuse directed at them.

This came after Bihar Congress posted an AI generated video of PM Modi and his mother on X. The clip showed the Prime Minister dreaming his mother was rebuking him over his politics.

Without taking any names, the Bihar Congress shared the video with the caption in Hindi, which roughly translated to: ““Ma" Appears in Sahab’s Dreams. Watch the Interesting Dialogue."

In the video, the character resembling Modi is shown to be turning in for the night and says: “I’m done with today’s ‘vote chori’, let’s get a good night’s sleep now."

While the character is sleeping, it dreams of a woman resembling the Prime Minister’s mother Hiraben, who scolds him for using her name to indulge in politics for garnering votes. Towards the end of the video, the woman rebukes the man and says: “How far are you willing to fall when it comes to politics?" At which, the man in the video wakes up startled.

BJP lashes out

In a strong response, the BJP said the Congress has “crossed all limits" and lowered the political discourse after the Bihar Congress released the AI-generated video.

The BJP called it a “disgusting" attempt to target someone who is no longer alive. It said “far from having remorse", the Congress is trying to justify its previous alleged remarks against the Prime Minister’s mother.

“Far from having remorse For abusing PM’s Mother Congress not only justified Defended the accused with lies Tariq Anwar too defended And now Bihar Congress crossed all limits with a disgusting video This party has become GAALIWADI instead of Gandhiwadi Mahila aur Maatru shakti ka apman (insult to women) is Congress ki pehchaan Shameful Abuse Bihar as Bidi and abuse a person no long with us," said BJP spokesperson Shehzad Poonawalla on X.

BJP's national spokesman Pradeep Bhandari said, "Congress under Rahul Gandhi continues its insult of Honorable PM @narendramodi ji's mother. People of Bihar will give a befitting response to RJD & Congress that mock mothers and sisters of Bihar!"

Bhandari alleged that it was all happening at the behest of the Congress's Rahul Gandhi. In a video statement posted earlier, he said the Congress's 'Shahi Parivar' is insulting "mothers and sisters of Bharat".

PM Modi abuse row

Last month, a massive row erupted after it was alleged that PM Modi's mother had been insulted by the opposition during Rahul Gandhi’s ‘Vote Adhikar Yatra’ in Darbhanga. Abusive slogans targeting Modi’s mother were reportedly shouted from the Congress-RJD stage.

The issue was widely condemned by the BJP leadership. The PM also turned emotional as he condemned the remarks made against his late mother.

“Mother is our world. Mother is our self-respect. I had not even imagined what happened a few days ago in this tradition-rich Bihar. My mother was abused from the stage of RJD-Congress in Bihar," PM Modi said while launching a new cooperative initiative in Bihar focused on boosting women’s entrepreneurship and self-reliance on September 2.

The Opposition hit back, pointing out that while mothers and sisters should not be used as props in a political battle, the rules should apply to the BJP and its leaders also.

"Yes, Prime Minister is right. No one has the right to abuse anyone's mother or sister. The same thing applies to him, too, when he spoke badly about Sonia Gandhi and all the women of Congress on his stage. The Prime Minister has not apologised for that to date. Bihar's daughter was abused during the elections," RJD's Rohini Acharya had said.
