Nifty 5400 Call adds 30 lakh shares in OI

Nifty Futures added 31.1 lakh shares in OI and ended at discount of 9 points versus 13 points premium.

FIIs were net sellers of Rs 407 crore in Index Futures; which open interest (OI) was up by 11875 contracts. However, FIIs were net buyers of Rs 941 crore in Index Options; which OI was up by 104392 contracts.


Nifty Futures added 31.1 lakh shares in OI and ended at discount of 9 points versus 13 points premium.


Nifty Open Interest PCR was down at 1.12 versus 1.25. Nifty 5400 Call added 30 lakh shares in OI and Nifty 5500 Call added 19 lakh shares in OI. However, Nifty 5200 Put added 11.9 lakh shares in OI.


Fresh shorts were seen in ITC, ICICI Bank and M&M. ITC tumbled 4.6%; its OI was up by 23%. Delivery volume declined at 47 lakh shares as against 54.2 lakh shares.


ICICI Bank fell 3.2%; its OI was up by 8% and delivery volume increased at 11.6 lakh shares versus 9 lakh. M&M tanked 5.3%; its OI was up by 6% and delivery volume jumped at 14.6 lakh equity shares versus 8 lakh.


Fresh shorts & cash based selling were seen in Unitech and Kingfisher Airliners. Unitech plunged 7.2%; its OI was up by 4% and delivery volume went up at 1.13 crore shares as against 66 lakh shares.


Kingfisher fell 8.2%; its OI was up by 7% and delivery volume increased at 11.3 lakh shares versus 3.6 lakh shares.

Long unwinding was seen in Hindalco. The stock fell 3.5%; its OI was down by 8% and delivery volume declined at 47 lakh shares versus 54 lakh.
