Ola Electric launches Gen 3 range of scooters: Check prices, specifications

The latest range starts at an introductory price of Rs 79,999 for the S1 X (2kWh) and goes up to Rs 1,69,999 per unit.

Electric two-wheeler maker Ola Electric on January 31 unveiled its new range of Gen 3 Scooters to expand its products and maintain market leadership.

The firm has introduced its new S1 Gen 3 portfolio on its homegrown Gen 3 platform and the latest range starts at an introductory price of Rs 79,999 for the S1 X (2kWh) and goes up to Rs 1,69,999 for the flagship S1 Pro+ 5.3kWh model.

"With Gen 2, we made our scooters smarter, and more accessible by expanding our portfolio with scooters for every Indian across every price range. Today, with Gen 3, we are taking the EV 2W industry to the ‘Next Level’. Gen 3 is bringing unmatched performance, superior efficiency and reinventing benchmarks we set for ourselves, and which will change the industry all over again," said chairman and managing director, Bhavish Aggarwal.

Pricing and Variants

Leading the lineup is the S1 Pro+ 5.3kWh, featuring Ola’s indigenous 4680 Bharat Cell, priced at Rs 1,69,999. The S1 Pro 4kWh variant is priced at Rs 1,54,999, while the standard S1 Pro in 4kWh and 3kWh battery options is available at Rs 1,34,999 and Rs 1,14,999, respectively.

The S1 X range starts at Rs 79,999 for the 2kWh variant, followed by the 3kWh at Rs 89,999 and the 4kWh at Rs 99,999. The S1 X+ variant with a 4kWh battery is priced at Rs 1,07,999.

To be sure, the firm said that it will continue to retail its Gen 2 scooters with discounts of up to ₹35,000.

Gen 3 Platform: Innovation at Its Core

According the firm's media statement, the Gen 3 platform brings substantial improvements over its predecessor, offering a 20% increase in peak power, 11% reduction in costs, and a 20% boost in range. The new portfolio incorporates a mid-drive motor and chain drive for optimized performance and reliability, along with an integrated Motor Control Unit (MCU) to enhance efficiency.

A standout addition is the category-first dual ABS (Anti-lock Braking System) and Ola’s patented brake-by-wire technology, which dynamically modulates braking between regenerative and mechanical methods based on sensor input, improving energy recovery by 15%.

S1 Pro+ and S1 Pro: Performance

The S1 Pro+ (5.3kWh and 4kWh) variants come with a 13kW motor, achieving top speeds of 141 km/h and 128 km/h, respectively. Acceleration from 0-40 km/h is achieved in 2.1 and 2.3 seconds, with an range of 320 km (IDC) for the 5.3kWh version and 242 km (IDC) for the 4kWh model.

Both variants feature four riding modes—Hyper, Sports, Normal, and Eco—alongside dual ABS, disc brakes, and enhanced ergonomics.

The S1 Pro (4kWh and 3kWh), powered by an 11kW motor, boasts top speeds of 125 km/h and 117 km/h, with ranges of 242 km and 176 km (IDC), respectively. These variants accelerate from 0-40 km/h in 2.7 seconds and are available in five colours.

S1 X+ and S1 X: Price Comparison

The S1 X+ (4kWh), priced at Rs 1,07,999, is designed for budget-conscious consumers, featuring an 11kW mid-drive motor, 125 km/h top speed, and 242 km range. The scooter includes a 4.3-inch color display, single ABS, and sporty body decals.

The standard S1 X is available in 4kWh, 3kWh, and 2kWh configurations, with 7kW motors achieving top speeds of 123 km/h, 115 km/h, and 101 km/h, respectively. The respective ranges stand at 242 km, 176 km, and 108 km (IDC).

MoveOS 5 and Extended Warranty

Ola Electric is set to roll out MoveOS 5 beta in mid-February, introducing features such as Smartwatch App, Smart Park, Bharat Mood, Road Trip Mode, Live Location Sharing, and Emergency SOS.

The Gen 3 portfolio includes a standard 3-year/40,000 km warranty for both the scooter and battery. Customers can extend their battery warranty to 8 years or 1,25,000 km for Rs 14,999.

Ola Electric Product Roadmap

Ola recently announced its Gig and S1 Z scooter series, aimed at personal and commercial users, with introductory prices starting at Rs 39,999. Bhavish Aggarwal said that the reservations for these scooters have begun at Rs 499, with deliveries scheduled for April and May 2025.
