As deadline for submitting Digital Life certificate for the pensioners nears, the Employees’ Provident Fund Organisation (EPFO) has once again urged pensioners to complete the process early — and this year, it’s easier than ever.
Earlier, pensioners were required to submit a 'Jeevan Pramaan' or life certificate before banks, post offices or any pension disbursing agencies every year by being physically present on or before November 30. This was a way to prove that the pensioner is alive and eventually the pension will be credited into their account following authentication by Jeevan Pramaan.
What’s new this year: Submit using your smartphone
In a major relief, pensioners can now submit their Jeevan Pramaan using Face Authentication directly from their smartphone, without any biometric devices or in-person verification.
The EPFO announced this update on social media platform X (formerly Twitter), saying pensioners can “submit their Digital Life Certificate easily through face authentication — no need to visit banks or offices.”

This means even those living away from their home city or abroad can complete the process remotely, using only a smartphone with a front camera and internet connection.
What you need before you start
Before you start, ensure that you have the following:
Step one: Check your phone.
Make sure your Android phone's camera and internet connection are working properly.
Step 2: Verify the Aadhaar registration
Check that your Aadhaar number is registered with your pension disbursing agency (bank or post office).
Step 3: Download the essential programs
Install the AadhaarFaceRd and Jeevan Pramaan Face apps from the Google Play Store.
Step 4: Complete the operator authentication
Launch the AadhaarFaceRd app to finish the operator authentication process.
Step 5: Fill in the pensioner details
In the Jeevan Pramaan Face App, enter the pensioner's name, Aadhaar number, and pension account information.
Step 6: Capture your face
Use your phone's front camera to scan your face as directed by the app. For a clean capture, make sure there is adequate lighting and that your phone is steady.
Step 7: Submit and download the certificate
Following successful submission, you will receive an SMS including a link to download your Jeevan Pramaan certificate to your registered telephone number.
