Every pensioner must file an annual life certificate so that the pension keeps flowing without interruption. For this cycle, seniors aged 80 and above can submit their Aadhaar-based Digital Life Certificate (DLC) from October 1 to November 30, 2025. Pensioners aged 60 to 79 can submit between November 1 and November 30, 2025. Filing within your window ensures the pension disbursing authority does not pause payments for non-submission.
The two doorstep options you can use
You have two easy, at-home choices. Public Sector Banks offer PSB Alliance Doorstep Banking Services, which will send an agent to capture your DLC; for senior citizens, the DLC service through PSB Alliance is free. India Post Payments Bank (IPPB) also offers a doorstep DLC service that works even if you are not an IPPB account holder. With IPPB, the DLC generation itself carries a nominal ₹70 fee (inclusive of GST/cess), but there is no separate “doorstep visit” charge for issuing the certificate.
How to place a request with India Post
You can request a postman/Grameen Dak Sevak visit through your nearest post office, via the Post Info app, or by raising a service request on the Department of Posts portal (ccc.cept.gov.in). Keep your Aadhaar-linked mobile number reachable for OTPs. Once the agent visits, they capture your biometrics and data on a handheld device, generate your Pramaan ID, and the DLC is issued digitally. You receive an SMS with the transaction ID and can download the certificate from jeevanpramaan.gov.in for your records.
How to book PSB Alliance Doorstep Banking
Download and open the DSB app, register your mobile number, and log in using your PIN/OTP. Select your bank, enter the service PIN code, and check if doorstep service is available at your address. Choose the linked account to debit applicable service charges (DLC for seniors is free under PSB Alliance), pick “Life Certificate/DLC” as the service, confirm your address and time slot, and submit. You’ll receive a service request (SR) ID and a Service Verification Code; the visiting agent completes e-KYC/biometrics and files your DLC.
The documents and details you must keep ready
Make sure your Aadhaar is seeded with the pension disbursing agency (bank/post office) and the mobile number linked to Aadhaar is active. Keep pension details on hand: type of pension, sanctioning authority, disbursing agency, PPO number and pension account number. Name, DOB and ID numbers should exactly match what’s in the bank and Aadhaar records to avoid rejection or rework during biometric capture.
What happens after you submit
After successful DLC generation, you’ll get an SMS with the transaction reference. Use it to download your computer-generated life certificate from jeevanpramaan.gov.in. The DLC is shared electronically with your pension disbursing authority; there’s no need to visit the branch unless your authority specifically asks for additional verification. Keep a copy of the DLC PDF and the SMS reference in your files until you see the next pension credited.
Tips to avoid delays
Schedule your doorstep request early in your window so there’s time for a revisit if biometrics fail. Ensure your fingers are clean and dry for Aadhaar authentication, and try again later in the day if network coverage is patchy. If your Aadhaar-linked mobile number has changed, update it first to avoid OTP failures during the home visit. Finally, confirm a few days later that your DLC status shows as “received” with the disbursing bank or post office.
FAQs
Do I (the pensioner) have to be present for the doorstep DLC?
Can a family member do it? Yes, you must be present because Aadhaar-based biometric (fingerprint/iris/face) authentication is required. A family member can help with documents and app steps, but the biometric has to be captured from the pensioner.
What if my Aadhaar-linked mobile number is old or I’m failing biometric (worn fingerprints)?
Update your Aadhaar-linked mobile first so OTPs work. If fingerprints are hard to read, ask the agent to try multiple fingers, clean/dry hands, or switch to iris/face authentication where available. You can also reschedule at a different time/location with better lighting/network.
I have more than one PPO/bank. Do I need multiple life certificates?
Typically, you must submit a separate DLC for each pension/PPO (and to each disbursing bank/post office). Keep a list of your PPO numbers handy and generate/download each DLC so every authority receives it.
