MSCI rebalancing could see Paytm, Nykaa find their way into the Standard index: Nuvama

A note by Nuvama Research is projecting that Coromandel International, One 97 Communication and FSN E-commerce Ventures could be included into the MSCI Global Standard Index during the May rejig, while Thermax could be excluded.

    Investors will be closely tracking the MSCI index rebalancing announcement for the Standard and Smallcap indices, expected on May 14, which could see inclusion of new names into the pack, with a Nuvama Research note suggesting Paytm and Nykaa could find their way into the index.

    The Nuvama note is projecting that Coromandel International, One 97 Communication and FSN E-commerce Ventures could be included into the MSCI Global Standard Index during the May rejig, while Thermax could be excluded. These inclusions could see an expected inflow of $249 million, $216 million and $198 million respectively after the addition into the gauge, said the note.

    In its earlier update, Adani Enterprises too was part of a high-conviction inclusion list in the Standard index, however, Nuvama said that there is a 'strong sense' that MSCI may be 'reluctant to revise the free float' here. "If they do proceed with the revision, the estimated inflow could be around $175 million," the note said.

    In the MSCI Smallcap index, as many as 11 stocks that could find their way in, with names including Tata Technologies, Hexaware, AWL Agri Business, International Gemological Institute (IGI), Godrej Agrovet, Premier Energies, Authum Investment, Acme Solar, among others.

    Tata Technologies, Hexaware, Premier Energies and AWL Agri Business are expected to rake in the most inflows, ranging between $12-14 million each, said the note.
