Tata Motors' total sales in February grew by 2 percent year-on-year, backed by passenger vehicle sales, though commercial vehicle segment degrew 1 percent.
The company sold 47,573 vehicles in February against 46,674 vehicles sold in year-ago month.
"Domestic sales of Tata commercial and passenger vehicles for February 2017 were at 42,679 numbers, higher by 3 percent, over 41,532 numbers in February 2016," it said in its filing.
Passenger vehicle sales increased 12 percent year-on-year to 12,272 units in the month gone by, due to continued strong demand for the Tata Tiago.
The company said it has also received an encouraging response to its recently launched lifestyle UV, Tata Hexa.
Overall commercial vehicle sales in February fell 1 percent to 30,407 units YoY, but within that medium & commercial vehicle sales increased 1 percent due to pre-buying on account of expected price increase led by BSIV implementation from April 1.
Tata Motors said its bus sales continued to grow by 30 percent in February 2017, driven particularly by STU orders, supported by intercity and staff application segments. Demand from schools is also gaining momentum, it added.
Small & light commercial vehicles sales stood at 15,376 units during the month. Improved consumer sentiments, waning effect of demonetisation and aggressive push by the market players has led to recovery of this segment volumes, it said.
Exports during the month declined 5 percent year-on-year to 4,894 units in February due to lower passenger vehicle shipment.
