Maruti Suzuki's sales in June declined 13 percent year-on-year to 84,455 units as domestic demand remained sluggish and exports also slipped.

The country's largest passenger car maker sold 77,002 units in the domestic market, down 8 percent from a year ago, while exports plunged 43 percent to 7,453 units.

Maruti Suzuki saw sales decline across its product portfolio. Mini car sales, which include the Alto, A-Star, WagonR and Maruti 800, were down 8 percent to 31,314 units and compact car sales, which include Swift, Ritz and Estilo, fell 7 percent to 20,996 units.

Sales of the compact DZire, one of the Maruti's top selling models, also declined near 9 percent in June to 12,548 units. This could be partly due to the recently launched Honda Amaze, which directly competes with DZire.

Meanwhile, sales of Maruti's utility vehicles, which mainly include the Ertiga MUV, apart from the Gypsy and Grand Vitara, were down 11 percent at 4,997 units.

Elsewhere, sales of the SX4 sedan were down 23 percent at 314 units and van sales slipped 1 percent to 6,833 units.

In April-June period, Maruti's sales are down 10 percent at 2.66 lakh units.

Maruti Suzuki shares were down 0.6 percent at Rs 1,527.85 on NSE in morning trade.
