Hero MotoCorp May sales up marginally at 5.58 lakh units
Hero Moto Corp has retailed over 1.1 million units over April-May, which Anil Dua senior VP (sales and marketing) said were boosted by new product range and recently introduced 5 year warranty on its portfolio.

Hero MotoCorp's total sales in May rose 0.2 percent year-on-year to 5.58 lakh units, the India's largest two-wheeler maker said on Monday. The sales figures were highest for any month as well as the highest-ever retail sales for any non-festival period, the maker of Splendor, Passion motorcycles and Pleasure, Maestro scooters said."The demand momentum that we had seen on our product range in April continued in May as well, helping us achieve over 1.1 million retail sales in the two-month period. This retail off-take has been helped by our star brands, our new product range as also the recently-introduced five-year warranty on our entire portfolio," Anil Dua, Senior VP (marketing & sales) said.Hero entered the Central American market last month and launched its two-wheelers in Guatemala, El Salvador and Honduras.In comparison, India's second largest two-wheeler maker Bajaj Auto's total sales in May declined 4 percent year-on-year to 3.39 lakh units.Its total motorcycle sales slipped 5 percent from a year ago to 3.05 lakh units. The company said, domestic motorcycle sales were up 3 percent 2.12 lakh units, helped by the launch of new Discover 100T and 125ST.TVS Motor's total sales last month fell 6 percent to 1.65 lakh units. While total two-wheeler sales declined 8 percent, its motorcycle sales were up 4 percent to 66,606 units.Hero Moto shares closed down 3.8 percent to Rs 1,670.50 on NSE. Bajaj Auto was down 3.4 percent to Rs 1,759.50.
