At least 10 labourers dead, 3 injured in truck-tractor collision in Mirzapur

10 people died after a truck collided with a tractor in UP's Mirzapur late last night.

In a devastating accident early Friday morning, ten people lost their lives, and three others were injured when a truck collided with a tractor trolley on G.T. Road in Uttar Pradesh. The incident occurred around 1 a.m. near the Mirzapur-Varanasi border, between Kachhawan and Mirzamurad, officials said.

According to Superintendent of Police (Mirzapur), Abhinandan, the tractor trolley was carrying 13 laborers returning from a construction site in Bhadohi district. "The truck, which had lost control, hit the tractor trolley from behind," he said. The collision caused a massive impact, leaving ten people dead on the spot. The remaining three passengers sustained injuries and were rushed to the hospital at IIT-BHU, where their condition is currently stable.

"The tractor trolley, carrying 13 laborers who were returning from construction work in Bhadohi district, was hit from behind by the truck that had gone out of the driver’s control," the SP stated.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi shared his heartfelt condolences on X regarding the tragic road accident in Mirzapur, Uttar Pradesh.

As soon as authorities were alerted, senior officers, including the SP, rushed to the site to coordinate the rescue efforts. "We immediately mobilized resources for the rescue operations," SP Abhinandan noted. "Of the 13 injured, 10 died while the three others were taken to the hospital at IIT-BHU, where their condition is stated to be normal."

The local police have registered a case at the Kachhawan police station and are probing the exact cause of the incident. “A thorough investigation is underway to determine the circumstances that led to this tragic accident,” Abhinandan said. The bodies of the deceased have been sent to the mortuary for post-mortem examination, and authorities are following due legal processes.
