Alkem Laboratories Limited will appoint Dr Vikas Gupta as Chief Executive Officer of the company with effect from September 22, the company said in an exchange filing on September 15.
Alkem Labs said, “We wish to inform you that the based on the recommendation of Nomination and Remuneration Committee, the Board of Directors of Alkem Laboratories has appointed Dr. Vikas Gupta as the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) with effect from 22nd September, 2023.”
Shares of the company were trading at Rs 3,694.15, down 0.41 percent on 15 September at 12:52 pm.
The appointment comes a day after the firm said the income tax department was conducting a survey at some of the company's offices and subsidiaries according to an exchange filing on September 14. Following the development, the company's stock fell nearly 2 percent early in the day.
Gupta holds an M.B.B.S degree from University College of Medical Sciences, Delhi University. Alkem Labs mentioned the he has over two decades of experience in pharmaceutical sector, including therapeutic areas such as acute, chronic, metabolic and respiratory. He also has demonstrated capability of leading business transformation across various geographies, the company said.
Gupta's expertise includes delivering profitable and sustainable top line by driving teams, devising innovative sales & marketing plans and creating mega brands, the company added.
