The first phase of polling in Chhattisgarh for 20 seats was concluded on November 7. The remaining 70 seats will go for polling on November 17.

It is time for the Congress regime to end in the state and this was “confirmed" after the first phase of elections, said Prime Minister Narendra Modi at a rally in Mungeli in poll-bound Chhattisgarh. "The time has come when Congress' bad governance will come to an end... After the first phase of the election, it is confirmed that Congress will lose in Chhattisgarh. I thank the people of Chhattisgarh for voting in favour of BJP in phase 1 of Assembly polls," he said.

He also hit out at the Congress by bringing up the Mahadev betting app case. It was alleged that Chief Minister Baghel received over Rs 500 crore.

"I want to ask some questions to Congress. The Mahadev betting app scam is worth Rs 508 crore and the probe agencies have recovered loads of cash in this case. A close aide of the Chhattisgarh CM is also in jail. Congress should reveal how much money the CM received in this," he said.

PM Modi also assured action against the “corrupt people” if the BJP government returned to power in the state. "Media people tell me that the Chhattisgarh Chief Minister is losing his assembly seat. Action will be taken against the corrupt in Chhattisgarh after BJP comes to power in the state," he said.

He said the BJP had planned for rapid development in the state. “If BJP comes into power, Chhattisgarh will develop rapidly. The dreams of the youth will be fulfilled. The life of the Mahtari sisters here will become easier. Control of corruption, strict action against corruption will be taken," he said.
He also referred to Congress bringing up his caste in its recent rallies. “Modi wants to get you out of every crisis. That's why Congress hates Modi also. This hatred of Congress has increased so much that it has started hating Modi's caste also. For the past several months, Congress has been abusing the entire OBC community in the name of Modi. Congress is refusing to even apologise to the OBC community for the abuses and stings,” he said.

He said with his arrival in the state, the bugle was being sounded for the end of Congress’ bad governance. “The countdown has started for the exit of the Congress government in Chhattisgarh,” he said.

Modi said Congress can do anything for vote bank and appeasement. ``The Congress did not even respect the faith of Dalits, OBCs and tribals... After so many decades of independence, if anyone is poor in the country today, the only culprit is Congress. Even after decades of the 'Garibi Hatao' slogan, Dalits, OBCs and tribals of the country remain poor, then Congress is the culprit...,” he said.

The first phase of polling in Chhattisgarh for 20 seats was concluded on November 7. The remaining 70 seats will go to polls on November 17. The counting will be held on December 3.
