In speculative euphoria and takeover by foreign bank - people buying RBL at current price of 325 are going to get very meagre return on 1-2 year basis . short term speculators may take it a number they want and dump the share - no one can predict that . But the maths and investment thesis does not warrant a price above 300 . Why - well Emirates NBD is giving major dilution to existing shareholder at 280 rs per share - investing around 26,000 crs . The current net worth of RBL is 15,000 crores which means existing shareholders will own only 36 percent of the bank and its earnings in comparison to 100 percent after the full takeover. . even with cleaning book and lower cost of liability due to high equity base the bank with 600 branches and 1 lakh crore advances wont be able to make more than 1250-1500 crores of PAT in FY27 forward - these are best assumptions taking an advances growth of 25 per yoy . which means 7 percent Return on Equity due to new equity base of 40,000 crores . anyways the bank with improving earnings was on path to give 8-10 return on equity in FY 27 without NBD offer. So whom the deal makes most sense - for NBD emirates to get a long term foothold in India and the management to become part of middle east rich MNC bank - which ensure their salary packages keep getting bigger . yes in long term 3-5 years with increased branches minimum 1,000 -which will come with cost and good governance it earnings may compound around 15 percent after FY27. But no miracles can be expected as capital alone does not improve franchise given stiff competition from like of ICICI, HDFC, KOTAK,, IDFC , federal etc . plus in next 1-2 year banking itself will change dramatically with AI and new age NBFC like Jio Finance will become another force to reckon . about brokerages like motilal which are giving largets of 350 are just satta specultors with their own positions . same motilal had a target of 130 rs a year back when price was 150 and when i had entered with full investment thesis explained but then people were talking about price to become 90-100 . anyways i have already exited at 299 after making 100 return in last 9 months . this post is more to educate my followers . best of luck to speculators and naive believers . cheers View more
