The path to the big screen for Bollywood's first star, Zayed Khan, started in the most surprising way. Even though he thought his debut would take place under his family's production company, destiny had other ideas. Just by being in the right place at the right time, Zayed was offered his first movie, Chura Liyaa Hai Tumne, one random weekday.
Dedicated to honing his craft, Zayed poured himself into rigorous preparation. “I started going to the gym, worked out, took dance classes, dialogue classes, acting classes – all of it. In fact, I'd also be reading my lines while standing at the petrol pump, waiting for the tank to be filled. And just like that, woh jalwa, woh nasha, obsession ho gaya,” he shared. His moment came unexpectedly when he accompanied his brother-in-law Hrithik Roshan to a film set where Hrithik was working with Vikram Bhatt and Ameesha Patel. While Zayed was simply there to observe, someone noticed him and approached with a proposition: “You’re a very good-looking guy. Will you do a film for me?”
Despite being flattered and assured of his readiness, Zayed took some time to accept. He made the considerate decision to consult his father, seasoned actor Sanjay Khan, for guidance. "I went back and spoke to my father," Zayed recalled.
I said, 'This happened—would you feel bad if I do this?' And my father has always been the kind of guy who says, 'When you make your own life, then you own it better, Zayed.'” That reassurance was all he needed to say yes to the opportunity—and the rest, as they say, is history.
Fast forward to today, Zayed Khan is now set to make a much-awaited digital debut with The Film That Never Was (TFTNW). Touted as one of 2025’s most anticipated projects, the makers have kept the storyline tightly under wraps, adding to the intrigue and buzz. In addition to TFTNW, the actor is rumoured to be involved in a few more exciting projects—though, for now, Zayed is keeping those details close to his chest.
