When Salman Khan revealed his best Navratri memory is Dholi Taro song featuring him and Aishwarya Rai, said, "It is my biggest memory..."

Bollywood superstar Salman Khan has always been vocal about the role festivals play in his life, but when it comes to Navratri, one memory stands out above the rest. It’s not about dandiya nights or personal celebrations but about a song that went on to define an era, Dholi Taro from Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam (1999).

At the trailer launch of Loveyatri in 2018, a film produced under his banner Salman Khan Films, the actor was asked about his fondest Navratri moment. Without hesitation, he said, “My biggest memory of Navratri is Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam. Dholi Taro.” The film featured him opposite Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, who was not just his co-star but also his partner at the time. Their chemistry in the movie was undeniable, and the energy they brought to the festive dance number made it one of Bollywood’s most memorable garba songs.

The song itself, sung by Vinod Rathod and Kavita Krishnamurthy, became synonymous with Navratri festivities across India. But for Salman, it carried a deeper, personal meaning, tied to the time he shared with Aishwarya. The movie, with its sweeping sets, soulful music by Ismail Darbar, and Bhansali’s grand vision, cemented their place as one of Bollywood’s most iconic on-screen couples.

Their off-screen relationship, however, was far more complicated. Salman and Aishwarya’s romance began during the making of Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam and quickly caught the attention of the media. It was intense, passionate, but also turbulent, ultimately ending in 2001 amid public controversies. Yet, decades later, the memories of their time together on that set remain etched in Bollywood history.
