Hollywood icon Robert Redford passed away on September 16 in his sleep, leaving a void in the entertainment industry. Several prominent celebrities mourned the death of the veteran actor and filmmaker.
Jane Fonda has also paid tribute to Robert Redford, describing him as “a beautiful person in every way.” Jane and Robert starred together in four movies, like The Electric Horseman and Barefoot in the Park. They have recently collaborated on Netflix's romance Our Souls at Night (2017).
However, Jane has once revealed that Robert Redford “has an issue with women”.
Jane claimed that Robert Redford's dislike of women was the reason he never enjoyed kissing on set, but she was unable to explain.
While speaking at the Cannes Film Festival, Jane said, “He did not like to kiss. I never said anything [to him about it]. And he’s always in a bad mood, and I always thought it was my fault.”
She insisted, “He’s a very good person,” adding, He just has an issue with women.”

Jane Fonda praised his sense of humour and claimed that by the time she and Robert Redford collaborated on the 2017 movie Our Souls at Night, she had learned to deal with his habits.
She shared, “The last movie I made with him was six years ago. What was I, about 80 years old or something like that. And I finally knew I had grown up. When he would come on the set three hours late in a bad mood, I knew it wasn’t my fault. We always had a good time.”

In a statement to AFP, Jane Fonda paid an emotional tribute to the late actor, director and activist, Robert Redford. She described him as "a beautiful person in every way.”
She added, "It hit me hard this morning when I read that Bob was gone. I can't stop crying. He meant a lot to me and was a beautiful person in every way. He stood for an America we have to keep fighting for."

Oscar-winning director Robert Redford died in his sleep on September 16. His publicist, Cindi Berger, Chairman and CEO of Rogers and Cowan PMK, confirmed his death, according to The New York Times.
The statement reads, “Robert Redford passed away on September 16, 2025, at his home at Sundance in the mountains of Utah–the place he loved, surrounded by those he loved. He will be missed greatly. The family requests privacy.”
He is known for several Oscar-winning movies. He had also worked behind the camera for years.
