No official statement has yet been issued by railway authorities regarding the circumstances that led to the crowding inside the coach.

A woman travelling alone by train reported a distressing incident at Katihar Junction in Bihar after a sudden surge of approximately 30 to 40 men entered her coach, leaving her feeling unsafe and unable to exit the washroom. The incident occurred when the train halted at the station, prompting her to seek immediate assistance from railway authorities.

According to the account shared by the woman on X, the situation unfolded when the train made an unscheduled or routine stop at Katihar Junction. She said she had gone to use the washroom during the halt. As she was about to step out, a large group of men suddenly rushed into the coach, shouting loudly and pushing past one another.

She stated that the movement of the crowd was so intense that the washroom door could not be opened properly, with people pressed tightly against it. Feeling unsafe and uncertain about stepping out into the crowded space, she shut the door again and remained inside the washroom.

The woman then contacted the railway helpline number 139 to report the situation and request assistance. While inside, she also recorded a video documenting her experience and her fear of leaving the enclosed space amid the chaos outside.

“Today I understood why safety concerns during travel feel so real. I was travelling alone and my train stopped at Katihar Junction (Bihar). Suddenly 30–40 young men rushed into the coach, shouting and pushing each other. I was in the washroom and couldn’t even step out — people were packed at the door,” she wrote while sharing the video.

She further stated, “I closed it again, called Railway Helpline (139), and thankfully the RPF arrived. They cleared the way and helped me get back to my seat safely,” describing the incident as an “extremely scary experience”.

Following the alert, personnel from the Railway Protection Force reached the coach, dispersed the crowd gathered near the washroom area and ensured that the woman was able to return safely to her seat. No injuries were reported.

The post has since gained attention on social media, with users discussing safety concerns associated with solo travel, particularly for women, and the unpredictability of crowd movement at railway stations. Several users praised the woman for contacting authorities promptly and acknowledged the RPF’s response in handling the situation.

No official statement has yet been issued by railway authorities regarding the circumstances that led to the crowding inside the coach.
