Actress Richa Chadha has recently shared a glimpse of her newborn daughter Zuneyra, also named as Zuni. The actress has also provided an honest, unvarnished description of what it's like to go back to work after becoming a mother.
In a poignant letter, the actor revealed that returning to work after a nearly two-year hiatus has been difficult, influenced not only by the psychological and physical strain of motherhood but also by disturbing professional betrayals.
Richa took to her Instagram and confessed that returning to work took longer than she had expected. She started her post with a video of herself in a make-up room with her daughter in her lap.
In the next slide, she wrote, “On Sunday, I went back to work after nearly 2 years. As much as I would have liked to get back sooner, my body, my mind wasn’t ready at all. But other than these practical, tangible issues, I have had to deal with professional betrayals from close quarters.”
She shared a mirror selfie of herself, followed by another slide describing the long, slow journey of mental recovery, and the disorienting loss of identity that often shadows new mothers.
The actress stressed how essential a supportive environment becomes during this transition and wrote, “Mommy doesn’t remember who she was before the baby was born.”
Richa also reflected on the professional setbacks she faced during her most vulnerable phase and called out the lack of ethics.
She wrote, “I have had to deal with deep professional betrayals from close quarters. In this industry, a rare few have courage. Most operate from such deep-seated inferiority complexes like dementors — they suck all joy out of life.”
She continued by saying that although she forgives, she "never forgets," sending a clear message to those who have offended her.
The continual pressure on public personalities to perform on social media, particularly after becoming mothers, was another topic covered in Chadha's note. She confessed that she had been reluctant to post intimate moments online for fear of being used as content.

She further noted that vulnerability today often gets commodified under the guise of authenticity and penned, “Everyone tells you to post more, create more ‘content’ but I am not employed by social media. I have a life.”
She acknowledged that she now worries that any touching occasion could result in podcast invites "with cameras zooming in on every tear," reflecting on a time when the internet felt more authentic.
Richa Chadha and her husband, actor Ali Fazal, welcomed their daughter, Zuneyra Ida Fazal, on July 16, 2024.
On the work front, Richa was last seen in Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s Heeramandi: The Diamond Bazaar on Netflix. She is now gearing up for the fourth instalment of the Fukrey franchise.
