Vicky Vidya Ka Woh Waala Video Review: Rajkummar Rao, Tripti Dimri's Film Is Like A Sex Tape We Wish No One Gets To See

Vicky Vidya Ka Woh Waala Video is so bad, that it's bad. It offends the differently abled, the elderly and casually bodyshames even animals. Give this a watch if, as they say, you are ‘willing to leave your brainds at home’.

Vicky Vidya Ka Woh Waala Video Review: Rajkummar Rao, Tripti Dimri's Film Is Like A Sex Tape We Wish No One Gets To See

It seems like director Raj Shaandilyaa and writer Yusuf Ali Khan were hell bent on offending differently abled when they conceptualized Vicky Vidya Ka Woh Wala Video. There are jokes at the expensive of Vicky's father (played by Rakesh Bedi) who is visually challenged.

His eye patch is mocked in many creative ways—it is compared to a bulb when their house help Chanda says “Dhyaan se, kahi doosra bulb na toot jaaye” and “ek aankh se kitna hi dekh loge”.

Vicky Vidya Ka Woh Waala Video: Plot

If offending differently abled wasn't enough, the film also has ageist jokes (an old woman is mocked for wanting to dye her hands with henna). Even donkeys of Vaishno Devi (a place where Vicky and Vidya) claimed to go on their honeymoon are height-shamed.

And the sad part is: none of it lands. All jokes go for the lowest hanging fruit. Forget layered humour, the jokes are crass and lowbrow. So lowbrow that they don't deserve to be recalled. As for the plot, which revolves around Vicky-Vidya trying to find their sex tape, is marred by a plot which meanders more than Rajkummar Rao's comic timing.

Vicky Vidya Ka Woh Waala Video: Performances

Rajkummar Rao plays Vicky, a henna artist who spends most of his time hogging the free food he gets for attending wedding events. There are losers you wouldn't want to root for, and then there is Vicky, who wouldn't as much ask for Vidya's hand in marriage.

He jeopardizes her engagement with a lawyer (played by Manjot Singh in a cameo appearance). Vicky-Vidya get hitched, secretly plan their honeymoon in Goa while pretending to be in Vaishno Devi.

Vicky Vidya Ka Woh Waala Video: Writing And Direction

Mallika Sherawat plays Chanda, Vicky's sister who is a cougar (and her grandfather wouldn't leave a chance to subtly shut shame her). A robbery leads to Vicky-Vidya's sex tape being stolen. Enter Vijay Raaz whose cop act has already charmed the audience in Dream Girl.

This time, he is romancing a sizzling Chanda. The chemistry between Mallika Sherawat and Vijay Raaz is crackling and frankly speaking, it overshadows that of Kumar and Dimri. The two light up every frame they are in. I couldnt help but root for this duo—a cop romeo and a wannabe Bollywood star.

Vicky Vidya Ka Woh Waala Video: What Works, What Doesn't

What Works for Vicky Vidya is its small town setting. And that's about it. It might just remind you of the many small town comedies (Ayushmann Khurana films, in particular) but it never matches their level.

Special mention to Archana Puran Singh who plays a gutkha chewing, tobacco spitting woman (she practically looks unrecognizable in the role). Vicky Vidya Ka Woh Waala Video is so bad, that it's bad. It offends the differently abled, the elderly and casually bodyshames even animals. Give this a watch if, as they say, you are ‘willing to leave your brainds at home’.
