Smriti Irani celebrates Subho Bijoya

On the ocassion of Vijay Dashmi Actor-turned-politician Smriti Irani joined devotees at the popular Durga Puja pandal in Delhi’s Pandara Road.

She celebrated Subho Bijoya, and marked it in style by taking part in the traditional Dhunuchi Naach — a spirited dance performed with incense burners.

Wearing a classic red-and-white Bengali saree, Smriti Irani danced alongside other women as the crowd cheered. A short clip of her performance quickly surfaced on social media, with users praising her festive spirit.

Social Media Greetings for Vijayadashami

Earlier in the day, Smriti Irani extended warm wishes on Vijayadashami through her official social media accounts. Sharing a picture of herself in the Bengali saree, she wrote, “Shubh Bijoya.”

On X (formerly twitter), she added a longer message: “Where there is righteousness, there is victory Heartfelt greetings to all of you on the festival of Vijayadashami, which symbolizes the triumph of righteousness and truth. This festival conveys the message of incorporating into our lives the ideals of the epitome of propriety, Lord Shri Ram, along with patience, sacrifice, and valor."

She further reminded followers that the festival conveys the values of patience, sacrifice, valor, and the ideals of Lord Shri Ram. “Jai Jai Shri Ram,” she signed off.

Smriti Irani Balances Politics and Popularity

For many, the sight of Smriti Irani at a Durga Puja pandal was a nostalgic throwback. Before her political journey with the Bharatiya Janata Party, she was one of television’s biggest stars, remembered best for her role in Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi, in which she is back again with the new season.

Her presence at community festivals often draws attention not just from political circles but also from her old television fan base, many of whom still associate her with her iconic character, Tulsi.
