The latest episode of The Great Indian Kapil Show featured the iconic Shatrughan Sinha, his wife Poonam Sinha, their daughter Sonakshi Sinha, and son-in-law Zaheer Iqbal as guests. This star-studded episode delved into the Sinha family's personal stories and life experiences.
Shatrughan Sinha recounted his first encounter with Poonam. He shared that their initial meeting took place on a train journey from Patna to his college. “I was feeling emotional because I had been scolded by my family for some silly acts,” Shatrughan recalled. Amidst his own emotions, his attention was drawn to Poonam, who was also crying. “I realised she was crying too, possibly because her mother had scolded her about something. That’s my first memory of her—crying in the train,” he shared with a smile, reminiscing about that moment.

Shatrughan and Poonam dated for 14 years before they eventually tied the knot. Shatrughan opened up about the various challenges they faced, including a rather dramatic prediction from a pandit. The pandit had told Poonam that she would face tough times for 7.5 years after marriage but assured her that things would improve eventually. “The pandit ji told Poonam that she would face tough times for 7.5 years after marriage but assured her that she would get used to it later,” Shatrughan shared. He also mentioned how rumours about his past relationships reached Poonam, making her emotional and raising doubts. Despite these hurdles, their mutual love and understanding saw them through.
Shatrughan Sinha also shared a piece of advice given to him by fellow actor Dharmendra, who had once told him that as a film star, many women would admire him, but he should stick to being a one-woman man — at least, one at a time. This playful anecdote was met with laughter, and his wife, Poonam, playfully emphasised, "At a time."
