Sushant Singh Rajput's sister, Shweta Singh Kirti, held a prayer meet in Mumbai on the actor's fourth death anniversary. The event was a somber reminder of the tragic loss the family and fans endured on June 14, 2020. Shweta, in her emotional appeal, urged fans to continue seeking justice for her brother, who was found dead in his Mumbai apartment, a case that still evokes strong reactions and controversies.
It has been four years since Bollywood lost one of its most versatile actors, Sushant Singh Rajput. The news of his death on June 14, 2020, shocked the entire industry and his fans worldwide. The circumstances surrounding his death remain unclear and have sparked numerous investigations and public outcry for justice.
Shweta's prayer meeting was marked by the presence of family members and close friends, all of whom came together to remember Sushant. Videos from the meet, widely circulated on social media, show Shweta dressed in white, leading the prayers and performing a hawan (a traditional fire ritual). The emotional weight of the ceremony was palpable, as Shweta shared heartfelt messages and memories of her brother.
Earlier in the day, Shweta posted a touching tribute to Sushant on social media. She shared a picture of Sushant with a child, captioning it with a message that reflected her anguish and persistent search for justice. "Someone who wore his heart on his sleeve, was it a fault to be so pure and loving in this cruel world? It's been 4 years of injustice to Sushant. Does he deserve this?" she wrote.
Apart from Shweta, several of Sushant's co-actors and industry friends took to their social media accounts to express their grief and demand justice. Mahesh Shetty, one of Sushant's close friends, posted an emotional note, questioning the prolonged uncertainty surrounding the case. "How much longer, I wonder? Another year passes by. They said it gets easier and time heals it all, but the questions keep pestering, making it even more difficult. I keep waiting, keep my utmost faith alive in the law of the land, but I deserve to know. We deserve to know!" he wrote.
The prayer meet also included a poignant moment where Shweta addressed the gathering, expressing her frustration and despair over the unresolved questions about her brother's death. "Bhai, it has been 4 years since you left us, and we still don't know what transpired on June 14, 2020. Your death remains a mystery. I feel helpless and have pleaded with the authorities countless times for the truth. I'm losing my patience and feel like giving up. But today, for one last time, I want to ask everyone who can help with the case to put their hand on your heart and ask yourself: don't we deserve to know what happened to our brother Sushant? Why has it become a political agenda? Why can't it be as straightforward as stating what was found that day and what is believed to have happened? PLEASE, I am requesting and pleading, help us move forward as a family. Give us the closure we deserve," she implored.
Sushant's death initially was ruled as an accident by the police, but the case took a dramatic turn when his father filed a complaint with the Bihar police, alleging that Sushant's then-girlfriend Rhea Chakraborty and her family were responsible for his suicide. This allegation sparked widespread media coverage and led to multiple investigations by various agencies, including the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI).
As the fourth anniversary of Sushant's death is marked by grief and calls for justice, the pain of his loss continues to be felt deeply by his family, friends, and fans. The unresolved questions and the search for truth remain at the forefront of their minds, a testament to the enduring impact Sushant Singh Rajput had on their lives and the Indian film industry.
