New Delhi: Acclaimed storyteller and actor Sudhanshu Rai has once again captivated audiences with the launch of his new series Dreamers. In its emotionally powerful first episode, Rai unfolds the inspiring yet largely untold story of veteran actor Mukesh Khanna — a journey marked by rejection, perseverance, and eventual stardom.

Presented in Sudhanshu’s signature cinematic storytelling style, the episode takes viewers deep into Khanna’s formative years in the film industry — a time riddled with struggles, flops, and self-doubt. It highlights the unwavering support of his elder brother, Jaggi Khanna, who became his pillar of strength during the darkest times.

Among the episode’s most startling revelations is an anecdote involving legendary filmmaker Yash Chopra. When Jaggi Khanna presented reels of Mukesh’s film Khooni to Chopra, the latter made a stinging remark: “When one has the option of foreign liquor, why would he choose country liquor?” This comment, where "foreign liquor" metaphorically stood for established stars like Amitabh Bachchan and Vinod Khanna, and "country liquor" for Mukesh Khanna, deeply hurt the aspiring actor. Though Chopra appreciated the performance, the condescending metaphor left a lasting impression, and the two never met again.

Despite such dismissals, Mukesh Khanna continued his relentless pursuit of excellence. His breakthrough came with iconic roles — as the noble Bhishma Pitamah in Mahabharat and the beloved superhero Shaktimaan, making him a household name and a role model for millions.

Sudhanshu Rai’s Dreamers is more than just a storytelling series; it’s a tribute to the indomitable spirit of those who dared to dream big against all odds. With a compelling narrative, the show not only revisits the personal and professional trials of celebrated personalities but also inspires countless others chasing their own dreams.

The overwhelmingly positive reception to the debut episode has set high expectations for the series, positioning Dreamers as a powerful platform for stories that matter.
