In the weeks following Sunjay’s death, Priya Sachdev Kapur, Sunjay’s third wife, spoke about her “blended family” with Karisma Kapoor’s children in an interview.

Karisma Kapoor’s children, Samaira and Kiaan, have moved the Delhi High Court seeking their rightful share in their late father Sunjay Kapur’s Rs 30000 crore estate. The legal drama that unfolded just months after the business tycoon’s sudden demise, has gripped both the corporate and entertainment worlds. Here is a detailed timeline of the case.

June 12, 2025: Sunjay Kapur’s sudden demise in UK

Sunjay Kapur, the 53-year-old chairman of Sona BLW Precision Forgings Ltd. (popularly known as Sona Comstar), died unexpectedly while playing polo in Windsor, UK. Sunjay was known for his deep ties with global royalty and Indian industry. His passing left behind not just a grieving family but also a massive business empire and personal estate worth around Rs 30000 crore.

June 19, 2025: Final rites in Delhi

Sunjay’s body was flown back to India, and his funeral was conducted at the Lodhi Cremation Ground in Delhi. His teenage son Kiaan, born from his marriage with Karisma Kapoor, lit the pyre. The Kapoor family, along with Sunjay’s widow Priya Sachdev and their young son, gathered for the last rites.

Late June 2025: Priya Sachdev’s public statement

In the weeks following Sunjay’s death, Priya Sachdev Kapur, Sunjay’s third wife, spoke about her “blended family” with Karisma Kapoor’s children in an interview. She emphasised that she considered all four children of Sunjay — two from his marriage with Karisma, one from his first marriage, and one from her own marriage — as “her own.” “Our two daughters are so close also, so besides our little boy, when he was born, the two girls bonded, and that created the bond between Kiaan as well. And my little boy Azarius is a big fan of his older brother. Samaira and Kiaan are also from a broken home, so, for them also, their EQ is very high,” she mentioned.

July 30, 2025: The disputed will surfaces

In a limited family meeting held at Delhi’s Taj Mansingh Hotel, the supposed executor Shradha Suri Marwah produced a will dated March 21, 2025. The document allegedly made Priya Kapur the sole heir of Sunjay’s estate. The circumstances immediately raised suspicion as no copies were circulated, and neither Karisma nor her children had ever heard Sunjay mention such a will. The children allege this was the first time the will was even spoken of, whereas Priya had earlier stated that no will existed and that all assets were part of the RK Family Trust.

September 9, 2025: Children move Delhi High Court

On September 9, Samaira (20) and Kiaan (14), represented by their mother Karisma Kapoor, filed a civil suit in the Delhi High Court. The plaint alleges that the will has been fabricated and manipulated by Priya Kapur with the help of close associates. The children have sought partition of the estate, rendition of accounts, and a permanent injunction against any transfer of assets. They also requested freezing of the estate to prevent dissipation while the matter is subjudice.

The suit further details how the children were called to corporate meetings of Sona Comstar and asked to sign paperwork without being given full access to trust-related documents. They argue that as Class I legal heirs, they are each entitled to a one-fifth share of their father’s estate.

September 10, 2025: Case scheduled for hearing

The Delhi High Court has listed the matter for hearing on September 10. Given the staggering value of the estate, the dispute has quickly become one of the most significant inheritance battles in India in recent years.
