Actor Sohum Shah revealed on Saturday, September 14, that a sequel to his 2018 critically acclaimed film Tumbbad is in the works. The announcement came just a day after the film was re-released in theaters.
The makers took to Instagram to share this exciting news with the fans. They shared a glimpse of Tumbbad 2 along with the caption, "#TUMBBAD2. Pralay Aayega."
According to a press release, the sequel promises an "even more gripping narrative" that expands on the dark, mythical world of Tumbbad.
Directed by Rahi Anil Barve, the atmospheric horror drama Tumbbad received widespread acclaim upon its release six years ago. The film, which was re-released in theaters on Friday, offers fans a chance to experience the chilling tale once again and has already received a positive response from audiences.
Produced by Sohum Shah under his banner, Sohum Shah Films, the film captivated audiences with its unique storytelling. Shah has promised fans that the sequel will explore the theme of greed even further, delving deeper into the elements that made the original so compelling.

Set in a village in Maharashtra, Tumbbad delves into Vinayak Rao's (Shah) descent into greed and obsession as he hunts for a mythical treasure protected by the malevolent entity Hastar.
