Filmmaker Sandeep Reddy Vanga has recently praised Shahid Kapoor’s hard work and dedication towards acting. Sandeep and Shahid have worked together in the 2019 film, Kabir Singh, which was a massive blockbuster. However, the filmmaker has recently revealed why he didn’t cast Shahid in Animal, despite characters of both films tracing similar personalities.
In a recent interview with Game Changers podcast, Sandeep claimed that he didn't think about casting Shahid in Animal. He elaborated that when he thought about this "emotional story, Ranbir Kapoor only striked.” The filmmaker added that it was "organic" because he felt Ranbir would be right for the role.
Sandeep Reddy Vanga's directorial film Animal, starring Ranbir Kapoor, faced huge backlash for its violent and misogynistic content. Despite the criticism, the film earned over Rs 500 crore domestically, becoming the biggest hit of Ranbir and Sandeep's careers. Sandeep's film Kabir Singh, starring Shahid Kapoor, also received criticism for its glorifying misogyny.
Sandeep is currently with Prabhas on his next film Spirit. He has also announced the sequel to Animal titled, Animal Park. Ranbir will reprise his role with Tripti Dimri, Rashmika Mandanna and Bobby Deol.
On the work front, Shahid Kapoor was last seen in Rosshan Andrrews’ action-drama Deva. He will next be seen in Vishal Bhardwaj's Arjun Ustara. The film will also star Triptii Dimri. He is also expected to star in Ashwatthama: The Saga Continues, directed by Sachin B. Ravi.
Meanwhile, Ranbir Kapoor also has a series of movies lined up. He will next star in Ramayana, Dhoom 4 and Andaz Apna Apna 2.
