Salman Khan rib injury turns a dance step in Sikandar

Salman Khan, gearing up for his big-screen return, shared a remarkable story from the set of A.R. Murugadoss’s Sikandar, where he suffered a rib fracture during filming last September. Despite the intense pain, the actor didn’t let the injury halt production. He returned to the set the very next day to film a song, pushing through the discomfort with incredible determination.

Rather than letting the injury sideline him, Salman cleverly turned his pain into an innovative dance step. Holding his ribs as part of the choreography, the move not only became a unique addition to the routine but also inspired the entire dance troupe to follow suit, transforming an unfortunate situation into a creative moment.

In a conversation with Aamir Khan and Murugadoss, Salman casually shared how he continued to dance despite his injury. Recalling the incident, he said, "There are four songs in the film. In one of the songs, I broke my ribs and shot for it the next day. I couldn’t sit, stand, cough, or even laugh. In one of the steps, I am holding my ribs. We made that into a step. All the dancers then followed the same step.”

During the chat, Aamir teased Murugadoss, asking, “Who is the better dancer? Me or Salman?” and “Who is better at action? Me or Salman?” The director, however, was too shy to answer. Salman, with a grin, reminded him of the rib fracture and his continued dancing, prompting Murugadoss to humourously side with him, saying, "He broke his ribs."

Murugadoss also praised Salman’s emotional performances, noting, “He will cry without glycerine. Silence while crying is very difficult to act, especially in close-up shots. With dialogues, it is easier.”

Filming Sikandar presented its own set of challenges, particularly due to security concerns arising from death threats against Salman. Murugadoss explained, "We shot at railway stations, from night till day. We had to take care of security issues. At real locations, there were around 200 people on the buildings, watching.”

Salman added, “There was a lot of security involved because we were shooting at real locations and outdoors. So we had to be very careful. But by the grace of God, all went well.”

Sikandar, which also stars Rashmika Mandanna, Kajal Aggarwal, and Sharman Joshi, will be released in cinemas on March 30.
