Saif Ali Khan talks about showing Adipurush to Taimur

In a rare and amusing look into their relationship, actor Saif Ali Khan recently talked about his son Taimur's unguarded response to one of his films. Speaking candidly and light-heartedly with his Jewel Thief co-star Jaideep Ahlawat on Netflix India's YouTube channel, the actor disclosed that his 9-year-old son was not impressed by the movie Adipurush, in which Saif played Lankesh.

When asked whether his children watch his films, Saif recalled, “I just showed him (Taimur) Adipurush recently. Then, after a while, he started giving me a look. Then I said 'Yeah, sorry'. He said, 'It's okay'. He forgave me.”

The admission left both actors and viewers chuckling, showing Saif’s willingness to laugh at himself and acknowledge his son's unfiltered opinions.

Based on the Indian epic Ramayana, Adipurush starred Prabhas as Ram and Saif as Lankesh, the antagonist. After its premiere, the movie received harsh criticism in spite of its impressive premise and star-studded cast. Its poor visual effects, contentious dialogue, and general handling of the beloved mythological story were noted by both viewers and critics.

During the same discussion, Jaideep Ahlawat fondly remembered meeting Taimur on the sets of Jaane Jaan, where Jaideep starred alongside Kareena Kapoor Khan. Sharing the amusing encounter, he said that Taimur warmly greeted him and was told that Jaideep was the “main man” of the film. To that, the young boy asked with curiosity, “Are you the producer too?” Jaideep, clearly amused and impressed, responded, “I was like, wow—where is this coming from?”

Currently available for streaming on Netflix is Saif Ali Khan and Jaideep Ahlawat's most recent movie, Jewel Thief, which also stars Nikita Dutta. The family stories and off-screen friendships add a fun dimension to the excitement surrounding the movie's premiere.
