Esha Verma, the daughter of Ashwin Verma and stepdaughter of Rupali Ganguly, has made her Instagram account private and deleted a video following a defamation notice issued to her by the actor, demanding ₹50 crore in damages.
On Monday, Esha shared a lengthy video on Instagram, making several allegations against her father, Ashwin Verma, and stepmother, Rupali Ganguly. Just hours later, she received a defamation notice from Rupali demanding ₹50 crore in damages.
In her now-deleted video, Esha had revealed, "I stood up against my bullies. My true bullies in my life. Not only did they hurt someone who I truly love - my mother; they chose to hurt me. They chose not to acknowledge me. They chose to abandon me, criticise me, and pick on my insecurities so I wouldn't feel good about myself. They never apologised to me, either publicly or personally. What hurt me the most was the response from my own father, how he chose to mock mental health."
She also added, “The wounds that you have healed open up again, especially when you have to see them in the media. I have avoided it, but sometimes it catches your attention. And then it hurts again and again and again, especially when you build your character and career off of lies and hurting someone else. And not once feel guilty about it.
Esha Verma has also accused 'Anupama' actress Rupali Ganguly of having an extramarital affair with her father, Ashwin K. Verma.
According to Rupali Ganguly's legal notice, she was both hurt and shocked by Esha's derogatory statements made through various social media posts.
The statement emphasized that Rupali Ganguly and Esha's father, Ashwin, had a 12-year friendship before they got married. It further pointed out that these baseless accusations have not only damaged Rupali's professional reputation but have also caused significant personal distress, erasing years of hard-earned respect in an instant.
The legal notice also stated that Rupali Ganguly never anticipated such a malicious attack, particularly given that she had always treated Esha with warmth during her visits to India. It further mentioned that Rupali, along with her husband, had gone out of their way to help Esha launch her career in the Indian entertainment industry. They facilitated several photoshoots and auditions for her, making special arrangements to support her ambitions.
Rupali's lawyer Sana Raees Khan, stated in an official statement to Money Control, "We have issued a defamation notice to her stepdaughter in response to her false and damaging statements as Rupali Ganguly firmly stands against the use of defamatory tactics for Publicity and she has taken this legal step to protect her reputation from unfounded claims. These baseless allegations were clearly intended to harm Rupali Ganguly’s reputation and capitalize on her public standing. Such actions have not only caused emotional distress but have also unfairly tarnished her personal and professional integrity."
Rupali Ganguly's husband, Ashwin K. Verma, was previously married to Sapna, with whom he has two daughters who currently live in New Jersey. Rupali and Ashwin got married in 2013 and have a son together, named Rudransh.
