The beloved singer and actor Rajvir Jawanda, who was best known for his hit song "Surname," passed away, and Punjab is still in mourning.
To honour his memory, a prayer meet was held today in Punjab, where family, friends, and several industry colleagues gathered to pay their respects. Among those in attendance were Kulwinder Billa, Gurpreet Ghuggi, Ammy Virk, Raghveer Boli, and many other stars who had shared a close bond with Rajvir.
The most emotional moment of the ceremony came when Rajvir’s young daughter, Amanat Kaur, stepped up to speak about her father. Dressed in white, her voice trembled as she began her tribute, “Waheguru ji da khalsa, waheguru ji di fateh, sat sri aakal sareya nu.”
Continuing in Punjabi, she recalled her happiest memories with him. In the English translation of her words, Amanat said:
“As you know, I am Amant Kaur, Rajvir Jawandha’s daughter. My dad was the loveliest. My father used to consider me as a lucky charm.”
Her voice quivered as she went on, “He used to say he loved me a lot, and I should never go away from him. My dad, who used to say that I should not leave his side, he only left me. However, in the future, I will fulfil my father’s dreams.”
The hall fell silent as her words brought tears to nearly every eye. Singer Gagan Kokri, who shared a video of the moment, described it as “heart-wrenching.” Close friend Kulwinder Billa was visibly emotional, while Gurpreet Ghuggi praised Amanat for her courage and grace, calling her tribute “a reflection of her father’s strength.”
