Riddhima Kapoor, daughter of Bollywood icons Neetu and Rishi Kapoor and sister to actor Ranbir Kapoor, is facing backlash over a remark made during an old interview of hers.

In a now-viral clip from her conversation with Galatta India, Riddhima discussed her desire to keep her daughter, Samara, off social media.

However, it was her comment about online trolls that sparked controversy. She mentioned that trolls could be “house help,” a statement that many deemed classists and insensitive.

During the interview, Riddhima explained her concerns about social media’s impact on her daughter, Samara. She shared, "She (Samara) wants to be on social media, but I don’t want her to be. If she continues with her account, I’ve told her not to be affected by comments. People write all sorts of things, and anyone could be commenting. Maybe it’s the house help, who knows?" This remark, suggesting that house help could be behind the trolling, did not sit well with many netizens.

One Reddit user pointed out, “Everything she said made sense except for the classist remark about house help. It’s wrong to assume trolls come from a lower class and that house help don’t have the right to be on social media.”

Another added, “It’s unnecessary and elitist to use house help as an insult. It’s an honest way of earning a living, and the Kapoor family themselves likely rely on their help. Using it in a derogatory way shows her classist mindset.”

Despite her accomplishments, this recent comment has left many questioning her views on class and privilege.
