Get ready for an amazing movie experience this holiday season! Rishab Shetty's highly anticipated movie Kantara: A Legend - Chapter 1 will come out in theaters all over the world on Dussehra, October 2, 2025. The movie is a prequel to the 2022 hit Kantara and will be released in Kannada, Hindi, Tamil, Telugu, and Malayalam.
After the first movie did well, there were very high hopes for the second one.
The first Kantara was a hit at the box office and in the arts. A minor Kannada release quickly became into a national hit, especially with Hindi-speaking audiences. Because it had a unique mix of mythology, raw passion, and fantastic action, it was one of the most popular dubbed movies in the last several years. Of course, people have been very excited about the prequel, and early signs point to it being even better than the first one.
Setting New Records for Early Reservations
Advance bookings for Kantara: Chapter 1 went open on Sunday, and the response has been incredible. In just one day, the movie sold more than 1.7 lakh tickets and grossed Rs 5.7 crore in pre-sales. The first Kantara only grossed Rs 2 crore on its first day of release in 2022, for example. The new chapter has also sold more in advance than a number of big-name films, such as Hrithik Roshan Jr. NTR's War 2 and Pawan Kalyan's They Call Him OG.
Karnataka is in the lead, but the Hindi market looks good.
Fans are eagerly waiting for Rishab Shetty to come back, and Karnataka is leading the way in pre-sales, as expected. The Hindi version has already brought in almost Rs 36 lakh, and the Tamil, Telugu, and Malayalam versions together have brought in just over Rs 5 lakh. Trade analysts say that Hindi reservations would go up a lot when more screens open in big cities.

The trailer hints at a good prequel.
The clip hints to an interesting genesis story about young Shiva trying to figure out what happened to his father during a Daiva Kola ritual. Rukmini Vasanth plays a rebellious princess and Gulshan Devaiah plays a tyrannical ruler. The story looks at how forefathers fought against oppression. At the end, Rishab Shetty's duty as a defender is set in stone, and his character seems to have god powers.
Kantara: A Legend – Chapter 1 is going to have a huge Dussehra premiere, with excitement at an all-time high and advance sales through the roof. If current trends continue, it might beat its predecessor's lifetime gross of Rs 400 crore and compete with the biggest pan-India blockbusters of the last few years.
