Cracking the UPSC Civil Services Examination is one of the most demanding challenges in India. For many, it requires years of exclusive preparation, often at the cost of a career or social life. But the story of IAS Srishti Dabas proves that with grit, discipline, and an unshakable dream, even the toughest hurdles can be overcome.

A Childhood of Struggles and Strength

Born and raised in Delhi, Srishti Dabas grew up in a difficult environment. Her parents separated when she was very young, and she was brought up by her mother single-handedly. Watching her mother’s sacrifices and struggles left a deep imprint on Srishti’s heart. Very early in life, she resolved to not only change her mother’s life for the better but also make her proud through her achievements.

Academic Excellence and Determination

An academically bright student, Srishti completed her graduation in Political Science from Indra Trust College in Delhi and later pursued her Master’s in the same subject from IGNOU. It was after completing her post-graduation that she seriously turned her attention towards the UPSC dream.

Balancing a 9–5 Job with UPSC Preparation

Unlike most aspirants who dedicate all their time to studying, Srishti had to shoulder both professional and personal responsibilities. She secured a job at the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) and earlier also worked with the Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment. Her days were consumed by a regular 9–5 job, but her evenings, nights, and even lunch breaks belonged to UPSC preparation.

She would study late into the night, often sacrificing sleep to revise and practice. The office library became her companion during breaks. Along with her job, she also took care of her mother and household responsibilities. It was a life of discipline, sacrifice, and relentless determination.

The Breakthrough Success

In 2023, Srishti made her first attempt at the UPSC Civil Services Exam. Against all odds, she not only cleared it but secured an outstanding All India Rank 6, earning her a place in the prestigious Indian Administrative Service (IAS).

Her success was a testament to her meticulous hard work, confidence, and the inner strength she drew from her mother’s support.

A Role Model for UPSC Aspirants

Today, IAS Srishti Dabas stands as an inspiration to millions of UPSC aspirants across India. Her journey shows that one doesn’t need ideal circumstances to achieve great things—what truly matters is consistency, self-belief, and the courage to keep going even when the odds are stacked against you.
