The mythological thriller has impressed fans and critics alike after its release in theatres on Gandhi Jayanti. In a remarkable feat, Kantara: chapter 1 grossed Rs 100 crore within 2 days of release.

The movie made Rs 61.85 crore on Thursday and Rs 38.77 crore on Friday, according to early estimates from industry trackers. This makes it one of the quickest films of 2025 to reach the Rs 100 crore milestone, with the total reaching an astounding Rs 100.62 crore in just two days.

With a box office debut of Rs 61.85 crore on its first day (Thursday), Kantara Chapter 1 had a great start. Kannada brought in Rs 19.6 crore, Telugu brought in Rs 13 crore, Hindi brought in Rs 18.5 crore, Tamil brought in Rs 5.5 crore, and Malayalam brought in Rs 5.25 crore.

The Rishab Shetty directorial has witnessed packed screenings across the country, with fans lauding its scale, authenticity, and powerful performances. Word-of-mouth continues to drive momentum, ensuring strong collections heading into the weekend.

The Kannada (2D) screenings of Kantara: A Legend Chapter-1 had remarkable theatre occupancy rates on Day 2. The occupancy rate was 60.03% for morning shows and 90.73% for afternoon shows.

Night shows achieved an incredible 92%, while evening shows maintained a solid 86.48%, demonstrating the film's ongoing appeal to viewers.

Set in 300 CE during the Kadamba dynasty, Kantara: Chapter 1 acts as a prequel to the 2022 blockbuster Kantara. The film delves into the origins of the Bhuta Kola ritual, with Rishab Shetty portraying Berme, a formidable Naga Sadhu and warrior. Supporting roles by Jayaram, Rukmini Vasanth, and Gulshan Devaiah add depth and power to the story, enhancing the film’s epic scale and grandeur.
