Kantara: Chapter 1 OTT release

The eagerly awaited prequel to the 2022 blockbuster, Kantara: Chapter 1, has finally made its way into theatres and will soon be accessible on streaming services.

The film, which was directed, co-written, and starred Rishab Shetty, has won over hearts with its compelling narrative and stirring performances, and viewers are eager to find out when they can watch it at home.

Pinkvilla claims that in a huge deal worth approximately Rs 125 crore, Amazon Prime Video acquired the digital rights to Kantara: Chapter 1, making it one of the highest-paid Kannada films available for streaming online, second only to KGF 2.

With plans to release the movie in Kannada, Tamil, Telugu, Malayalam, and Hindi, the platform hopes to give viewers a genuinely pan-Indian experience.

About a month after its theatrical debut, on October 30, 2025, it is anticipated to be available on Amazon Prime Video.

The Hindi-dubbed version may be released approximately eight weeks after the online premiere, but the Kannada, Tamil, Telugu, and Malayalam versions should be accessible immediately.

Although the makers have not yet released an official statement, anticipation is undoubtedly growing.

The narrative explores the beginnings of a fabled protector while transporting us to ancient Karnataka. Rukmini Vasanth adds nuance as Kanakavathi, while Rishab Shetty portrays Berme, a warrior torn between divine forces and human hardships.

The film also features strong performances from veterans like Jayaram and Gulshan Devaiah, along with Pramod Shetty, Prakash Thuminad, and the late Rakesh Poojary, creating a well-rounded cast.

Set during the Kadamba dynasty, the film beautifully weaves together folklore and history, focusing on the early roots of the Daiva traditions and mythical figures like Panjurli Daiva and Guliga Daiva—key to the Kantara world.

Rishab Shetty's work as director and lead actor has received praise from both critics and viewers, with many praising his daring vision and immersive performance. For their realistic portrayals, the supporting cast has also received praise.

To completely appreciate the cultural depth and subtleties that make Kantara: Chapter 1 so unique, fans especially advise viewing it in Kannada.
