Actor Dileep recently made headlines after he was accused in the 2017 case that shook Malayalam cinema and triggered a long-overdue conversation about misogyny and abuse of power. However, Bollywood actor Kangana Ranaut once reflected on the abduction and assault case of a Kerala actor.
During a 2017 interview with CNN IBN's Rajeev Masand, Kangana talked about the difficulties and risks women faced in the film industry and admitted that she was afraid for her own life because of instances in which women were kidnapped and slain.
She brought up the Kerala issue in the backdrop of her public dispute with Hrithik Roshan to draw attention to the harsh conditions that Indian women faced at the time.
The actor was allegedly beaten, according to Kangana, because she exposed a male actor's then-wife's extramarital affair.
Kangana said at the time, “Many things take place in extramarital relationships. Look at what happened in the Malayalam (actor) case. What that man did to her for a complaint to his wife... He had her raped and circulated the footage.”
Kangana Ranaut used the Kerala case to highlight her own feelings of uneasiness during her personal and professional challenges at the time, as well as to illustrate the vulnerability and abuse that women in the film business faced.
In the meantime, Dileep was recently found not guilty in the actor abduction and assault case by the Ernakulam Principal Sessions Court.
Meanwhile, actor Dileep walked free from the Ernakulam District and Sessions Court around 12 noon on December 8, 2025, after being acquitted of all criminal charges levelled against him in the Kerala actor rape case.
On the work front, Dileep's latest film Bha.Bha.Ba. Hit the theatres recently.
