BTS’ Jin reveals he personally suggested 1000 hugs event instead of proposed 50 for FESTA 2024

On June 12, 2024, BTS’ Jin, the oldest member of the group, marked his return from mandatory military duty with a heartfelt live session on Weverse. After nearly two years, Jin reconnected with his fans, the ARMY, discussing his military discharge and upcoming plans, particularly the highly anticipated FESTA 2024 event.

During the livestream, Jin disclosed that he would be offering free hugs to 1000 lucky fans as part of FESTA 2024. This initiative, initially met with safety and health concerns from the fans, was clarified by Jin. He revealed that the idea was his own, born out of a desire to make a meaningful contribution to the event since he would be the sole BTS member participating this year.

Jin explained that he suggested various ideas for the event, but faced pushback from his agency, HYBE, each time. Determined to create an intimate and memorable experience, he proposed a free hug event in an outdoor setting. However, concerns about safety and potential crowd issues led to further negotiations.

Ultimately, Jin and HYBE agreed on an indoor event to ensure safety. Initially, the company suggested a smaller scale with only 50 participants, but Jin advocated for more inclusivity. After discussions, they settled on a compromise of 1000 fans, who would be selected through a raffle. This approach balanced Jin’s wish to connect with as many fans as possible while addressing the logistical and safety concerns.
