Sanjay Dutt's life has been marked by numerous controversies, often attributed to his personality. If you've watched the film 'Sanju', you’ll be familiar with some of these aspects. The movie mentioned that he had dated 308 women and been married three times, but it omitted certain key details, including his relationship with Madhuri Dixit.

Their alleged romance was a major talking point in the 1990s. There were reports suggesting that they fell in love while working together on the film 'Saajan' in 1991. In Yasser Usman’s book 'Sanjay Dutt: The Crazy Untold Story of Bollywood’s Bad Boy,' a director who had collaborated with Dutt mentioned, “He was always following Madhuri around and whispering ‘I love you.’” Additionally, in an interview, Madhuri had once remarked that Sanjay was the “only guy who makes me laugh all the time,” fuelling the rumours back then.

However, Madhuri consistently denied being in a relationship with Sanjay Dutt. When the actor was questioned about it in an interview with Movie Magazine, he seemed unaffected by her statement. He explained, “I have worked with Madhuri, and we have done several films together. It’s important for me to establish a good rapport with all my co-stars, whether it’s Madhuri or Sridevi. For instance, during the initial days of filming ‘Gumraah,’ I needed to connect with Sridevi, who tends to be reserved. So, what Madhuri said didn’t bother me, in fact, it didn’t bother me at all.”

When asked if he was implying that he had no romantic involvement with her, Sanjay Dutt responded with a ‘yes’ and added, “I wish I had a romantic relationship with Madhuri, but I don’t!” He emphasised that he was friendly with all his co-stars, and his interactions with them were often misinterpreted.

Sanjay also admitted to apologising to Madhuri when reports of their alleged affair became public. He shared, “This story surfaced around the time of ‘Saajan.’ In fact, when it hit the press, she was shooting for ‘Khel’ in Kenya. So, during our ‘Saajan’ schedule afterward, I approached her and apologised. She was unfairly scrutinised by the public due to these rumours, and she took my apology graciously.”

According to reports, Sanjay Dutt and Madhuri even considered getting married at one point. However, their relationship came to an end when Sanjay was arrested in the TADA case in 1993. The arrest and the ensuing legal battles marked a significant turn in Sanjay Dutt’s life and career, affecting his personal relationships as well.

The alleged romance between Sanjay Dutt and Madhuri Dixit remains one of the most talked-about topics from the 1990s. While both actors have moved on in their personal and professional lives, the stories and rumours from that era continue to intrigue fans and followers of Bollywood. Despite the denials and clarifications, the alleged affair between these two prominent actors is remembered as a significant chapter in the history of Bollywood romances.
