Kalki 2898 AD Box Office collection Day 1: Prabhas, Deepika Padukone starrer earns Rs 95 crore nett in India

Kalki 2898 AD has also managed to cross the global opening records of KGF 2 (Rs 159 crore), Prabhas' earlier film Salaar (Rs 158 crore), Leo (Rs 142.75 crore), Sahoo (Rs 130 crore) and Jawan (Rs 129 crore).

Kalki 2898 AD opened to packed houses on June 27 and according to the early trends Prabhas, Deepika Padukone, Amitabh Bachchan starrer is off to a flying start.

The movie ran with 90 percent occupancy in almost all languages and it has collected a whopping Rs 95 crore at the box office on Day 1.

As per the industry tracked Sacnilk, Kalki 2898 AD directed by Nag Ashwin has become the biggest opener in Indian cinema. It has earned Rs 115 crore gross in India.

As per the industry tracker, Kalki 2898 AD has earned Rs 180 crore worldwide on Day 1 of its release.

Kalki 2898 AD has also managed to cross the global opening records of KGF 2 (Rs 159 crore), Prabhas' earlier film Salaar (Rs 158 crore), Leo (Rs 142.75 crore), Sahoo (Rs 130 crore) and Jawan (Rs 129 crore).

But Kalki has not managed to beat RRR which remains the highest Indian opener with Rs 223 crore collections, followed by Baahubali 2 which had collected over Rs 217 crore gross on its opening day.

In the Hindi version Kalki 2898 AD is looking to beat Fighter. The Hrithik Roshan-Deepika Padukone starrer had opened at Rs 22.50 cr nett. Kalki is also eyeing to earn an estimated Rs 22-23 cr nett in Hindi belt.

Moneycontrol gave the movie 3.5 stars and called it a visual spectacle. Our review said: "Despite overcooked action sequences which drag for too long, Kalki 2898 AD is a breath of fresh air. The film gets the dystopian aesthetic right and offers a plot set in future, but rooted firmly in Indian roots."

"While Prabhas and Deepika both are on top of their game, I wish Deepika had a meatier role to play. As Amitabh and Prabhas locked horns, Deepika (as Sumitha) watched from a distance. Surely a better arc could have been written for the actor," he wrote.

Besides Prabhas, Kalki 2898 AD also has Deepika Padukone, Amitabh Bachchan, Kamal Haasan. And there were surprise cameos by Vijay Devarakonda, Mrunal Thakur, Dulquer Salman, SS Rajamouli, RGV to name a few.

The movie is going to benefit from the 4 days weekend.
