Alia Bhatt has recently been targeted by a deepfake video, where her face was digitally inserted onto the body of another actress, Wamiqa Gabbi. This isn't the first time that Alia has been affected by such technology; other actresses, including Rashmika Mandanna, Katrina Kaif, and Kajol, have also experienced similar incidents.

The original video, featuring Wamiqa Gabbi, was posted on her Instagram account. It showed her in a red saree at the screening of Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s Netflix series 'Heeramandi', which Alia had also attended. However, the altered video that circulated online replaced Wamiqa's face with Alia's, leading to confusion and concern among fans.

One fan reacted by questioning the legality of the video, saying, “Is this legal?? you’re using Alia’s face." Another clarified that the original video featured Wamiqa Gabbi, pointing out the alteration: “This is the actual video of Wamiqa Gabbi. They replaced it with Alia’s face using AI."

Deepfake technology uses artificial intelligence to create realistic images and videos by superimposing one person's face onto someone else's body. This technology can be used to create misleading or false representations of individuals, often leading to significant personal and professional repercussions for those involved.

Previously, Alia was the subject of another deepfake video where her face was added to a clip showing a girl in a floral outfit sitting on a bed and mimicking certain gestures. This video also replicated Alia’s voice, adding to the realism and potentially increasing the confusion among viewers.

The issue of deepfakes is a growing concern in the entertainment industry. Actress Rashmika Mandanna, who had her face digitally altered in another video, expressed her feelings about the situation on social media. She stated, "I feel really hurt to share this and have to talk about the deepfake video of me being spread online. Something like this is honestly, extremely scary not only for me, but also for each one of us who today is vulnerable to so much harm because of how technology is being misused."

The misuse of AI in creating deepfake videos presents a serious ethical dilemma. It raises questions about privacy, consent, and the potential harm to individuals’ reputations. Moreover, it highlights the need for more robust laws and regulations to address the challenges posed by such advanced technologies. This incident with Alia Bhatt adds to the ongoing debate about the impact of artificial intelligence on personal identities and the integrity of visual media.
