Prominent actor Siddique has stepped down from his position as the General Secretary of the Association of Malayalam Movie Artists (A.M.M.A.) following sexual assault allegations made by a female actor on August 24.
In a televised interview, Siddique confirmed that he had submitted his resignation to A.M.M.A. President, Mohanlal. "Yes, I have officially tendered my resignation to the president of the organization, Mohanlal. Given the allegations against me, I have chosen to step down from my post," Siddique stated.
The controversy erupted after a female actor accused Siddique of sexually abusing her under the pretext of a movie discussion. These allegations have surfaced during a turbulent period for the Malayalam film industry, following the release of the Justice Hema Committee report. The report highlighted numerous incidents of casting couch practices and sexual abuse within the industry, bringing to light the widespread harassment and exploitation of women in Malayalam cinema.
